I'm Still Here!

Yes, I realize it has been since January since my last post..... You all I know I totally lag at this so if I have any readers at all I say hello & thanks for not giving up on me.

Did you know that having 3 kids keeps you extremely busy? Yep it's totally true & especially when you have 1 that is into EVERYTHING every 5 seconds! Why do I even bother cleaning? I now know how my mom must have felt with all of us. How she kept sane all these years is beyond me! Oh the joys of having kids!

I am in disbelief that I will have an 11 year old in 5 days. He's getting so old! And as my mom puts it... We only have about 7 more years with this kid before he's out there on his own, NOOOOOOOO!!! Can't be possible! I must say though I am very proud of Gavin. He will be earning his Arrow of Light in May. What a project that has been. I'm glad he has been interested in achieving it. He's a good kid!

Oh! Guess what we have? We inherited a jacuzzi! I love it! My friend gave it to us. It's not brand new (17 yrs old) but it works like new! The kids think it's the best thing since slice bread. I got in it for the first time last night & it was so relaxing. A very fun toy indeed!

The kids are out for spring break. They have been out since last week & have 1 more week to go. When do they learn? Seems like they are out of school more than they are in. They have kept busy. Gavin has been working on his homework & playing in the jacuzzi every chance he can get & playing video games...... Emma is reading & watching "Tangled" & playing with friends. And we have also been to Sea World. So yes, this has been a very busy spring break so far & more to come this coming week with birthdays & play dates. And Landon, well, he's just Landon. He's always into things & thinks he's bigger than what he really is.

This about sums things up for now. Until my next blog which may be sooner or later than you think :)

Secret Revealed....

There is no secret that I am the world's worst blogger! In my defense however, I am a busy woman! Having an 18 month old on the loose is a very tiring job. When I do have free time all I want to do is relax. But I hardly have time to relax & have "me time" cause then the other kiddos get come from school & my attention switches to them & then dinner & so on & so forth. This was not my secret though.

The secret was................... We went to Texas for Christmas! A few of Andrew's family members knew but a few did not. We kept it a secret to surprise his mom & the rest of the siblings that had no clue. It was a 22 hour drive (split up of course) but if you ever want to go insane then this is the trip for you! It was hard with 3 kids & the little one crying most of the way but we made it & it was soooooo fun! The kids had a blast & the brothers loved seeing each other. It was fun to see the new babies (Connor & Cole) So sweet & cute!!! Emma & Gavin both enjoyed taking baths in Nana's bath jacuzzi. Landon enjoyed chasing Che around the house & trying to give him kisses & knocking him down. Andrew enjoyed spending time with his folks & siblings as did I. I also enjoyed just being lazy cause I do it so well :) It was a fun surprise! Next time though I'm flying!!!!

New Year's was quiet around here. The kids went outside early & made noise. I went to bed early but woke up just in time to ring in the new year with Drew. Guess we're getting old to party anymore.

I'm hoping everyone has a great 2011 year! :)

Ta Ta for now & come back after Christmas to find out what my secret is.

Halloween Thoughts.....

Whether you want to hear my thoughts on Halloween or not I'm telling you anyway! I despise Halloween. Why you ask? Well, cause there's no good food that goes with it, it's spooky, & I hate all the candy my kids get. Let me rephrase that... I love the candy & would eat it all but I hate the effect the sugar plays on my kids. I don't like the decorations in fact as Landon was sleeping I undecorated & put up all the fall decorations. I no longer have bats hanging up & webs & ghosts hanging from my light fixtures. I guess overall I just don't feel like Halloween is a happy holiday. I never really did like Halloween as a kid either. I hated all the haunted houses & scary costumes.

So, now I'll take a deep breath & be thankful that my kids are safe after all the festivities that went on this weekend & be grateful that they don't have cavities yet! And I will be grateful that there are 365 days left till next Halloween.

With all that said, hope everyone has a happy November month & that your kids don't get cavities.

YUM!

Look what I made today. They are so yummy!! I got the recipe off of another blog when I was stalking the other day. (ya, I stalk blogs, so what?!) If it's not private I'm reading it! Anyway, these cookies are really good so I thought I'd share the recipe. :)

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
Preheat oven to 350
Bake 15-20 min.

Ingredients:

2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup canned pumpkin (or 1 cup of pumpkin puree)
3 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
2 cups chocolate chips

In a mixer, beat butter until smooth. Beat in white & brown sugar, adding a little at a time until mixture is fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Mix in vanilla & pumpkin. In a separate bowl, sift flour, baking soda, & spices. Slowly beat flour mixture in pumpkin batter. Stir in chocolate chips.

Scoop on well greased or parchment paper covered cookie sheet . Bake until cookies are brown around edges. (15-20 min.) Let rest 2 min. before removing & place on cooling rack.

We also went to Carlsbad downtown today. We met up with mom, dad, Kristen, & her family. There were lots of activities going on & some merchants were handing out candy. The kids dressed up minus Gavin (could it be he's finally growing up & totally too cool for Halloween?) My guess is a no cause he still wanted the candy. After that we went back to mom's for yummy potato cheese soup & homemade rolls & of course dessert. Has it ever been known to be at mom's house for dinner & not have dessert?! It has been a fun filled day had by all! I'm tired & headed for bed. Night All!!!!

Emma, my little mermaid, & Landon, my monkey.

Update Update Update....

Well you all know I lag & I've probably lost all of my 2 readers but per request of a friend she has asked me to update so here I am & thanks Michelle for kicking my butt in gear :)

So you might wonder what the heck I've been up to lately... I am on the PTA board this year & it's been fun so far. I'm in charge of the assemblies & any after school parties & refilling the teachers soda machine. Not just anyone can have the soda machine job! Oh ya, that's a huge responsibility. That's not what keeps me really busy though.

My kids keep me the busiest. Landon is 15 months & so much fun. It's cute to watch him recognize certain objects, such as, the yellow school bus that he waves to everyday & the trash truck & he loves dogs & throwing balls down the stairs. He tires me out & when he naps I am in heaven cause I can catch my breath for round 2. Emma is doing well in school. I think she could do better if she didn't talk so much but oddly enough in between all that talking she's finishing her work just hope she's understanding it. Gavin is so big. I can't believe my first born is almost as tall as I am. He's totally digging his teacher this year. She's all about Science & he loves it. Next week he's going on a field trip to the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) He'll get an education of diamond grading & learn about gemology research. I am a chaperon so I get to go with. I'm so excited. I love diamonds! Gavin keeps me busy with his homework. Did you all know that 4th grade math is like high school math! UNBELIEVABLE! It's like I'm in 9th grade all over again & it's sad when Gavin says to me "Mom it's ok, you don't need to help me, I understand it, besides it's too hard for you." Yep, I suck at math! I'm glad Andrew is smart enough to understand it.

So, that about wraps it. I don't like blogging cause I feel like I don't have anything worthy to say... I'm not creative as most people I know but it's funny cause after I blog I feel good about it.. Go figure. I'll have to blog & tell you all about the field trip. (I hope they pass out free diamonds) LOL!!! (LOL= laugh out loud) (that's for my mom)

Until next time! ADIOS!!!

I Love Japanese Candy!

My friend Emily rocks! I love you Em & thanks for the treats. Send more candy. It was gone in 2.5 seconds. Gavin says to send a case of it. I love my necklace, purse, & card. Emma has claimed the tooth box for when she loses her first tooth & all the rest to come. I can officially say that I have genuine gifts from Japan. I will treasure them forever. Love you Em. Can't wait to see you again! P.S. Love the magnets too! :) I love surprises & this certainly was a happy, wonderful surprise!

Changes.....

I will start this tonight & finish it manana! I am frustrated because I have worked hard on this post for some time now & for some reason it kicked me off. ERASED EVERYTHING!!! So I will quit tonight & return tomorrow.... Night all!!!

Okay so here I am... It's July 1st & I started this some time last week I think. I lag! Whatcha gonna do about it? I'm here now & I will finish this post tonight! So hold on to your hats & glasses boys & girls this might be a wild ride.

As I was saying, changes can be frustrating especially when you have your heart set on one particular thing. I will take this blog background as an example. The other night I started blogging. Got totally excited that the kids were finally asleep & that I actually had energy to stay up to blog. Well, I shortly discovered after I logged in that I can no longer use "Cutest Blog On The Block" backgrounds. I was kinda okay with it but then I realized I had to see the blogger templates. This did not humor me. I tried to work around it & then finally gave up & settled on this background. Thanks Em & Jenny for liking it so much cause I wasn't so sure I did. It's hard to be used to something for so long & then have it taken away from you. I love "Cutest Blog On The Block" & if ANYONE knows how I can incorporate it back in my blog I would truly honor you! I'll send you a treat or something.

Most changes in life are very hard to adapt to. This blog background is nothing! I'm used to it already but it took time to get used to it. I just hope they add more options for backgrounds & templates. I must admit that I am a little sad that I can't control & manipulate my blog as I used to, but I'll live.

Okay kids I am outie! I am going to post pics of my darling children now. Gute Nacht. Farewell. Adios. See ya!!!! (sorry it's not interesting but my brain fell asleep like an hour ago so I must go & I need to be a better blogger person)

The Sky Is Falling (& other weird news)

I'm not Chicken Little but I am pretty certain that the sky is falling..... or something like that. Over the last week we have had earthquakes & aftershocks & for all those that are wondering, we have survived them all thus far. No damage on our end but I'm embracing for the worse. Good thing we are prepared food, & water wise oh & shelter too if we should have to leave our cute little home. I shall keep you all posted if the sky falls on me or rather my home....

Moving onto other news. Gavin celebrated his 10th birthday on the 8th. I can't believe he's in the double digits now. He went ice skating with 2 of his friends from the neighborhood & then had pizza, cake & ice cream at my mom's house. He begged to sleep downstairs & that topped off his birthday. Emma keeps talking about hers which is 2 months away. Emma's birthday is sounding very expensive. Does she think money grows on trees & has she forgotten that she's sharing that day with her little brother? Speaking of trees, do you know what I wish grew on tress? DIAMONDS! Think how beautiful & sparkly the world would be if they did. And not just diamonds but emeralds & rubies, & sapphires, & pearls. Oh my! I guarantee this country wouldn't be hurting as much as it is if this were possible. On the second thought we have some pretty selfish politicians running this state & country so they'd probably hoard the goods & leave us poor folk nothing! Oh wait, what I am I thinking, that's happening now!

Well I have nothing left to say which is probably a good thing cause this post is kinda weird. It's what you get when I'm tired & when the house is unusually quiet. Until next time...

To Blog Or Not To Blog........

To my faithful readers: I am thinking of calling quits & no this is not an April Fools joke. I know this is a huge disappointment to some of you (do you feel the sarcasm?) but I feel as if I don't have anything exciting to write about. I read other blogs & they are so much more exciting than mine. And plus I update on facebook all the time & most of you are friends on there so I just figure you can get the latest & greatest on facebook ( also facebook is so much faster than actually sitting my butt down to update my blog that I do once a year) I suck at blogging my apologies to you all. I lag bad! Give me some ideas that I can blog about. The only thing really exciting going on is Gavin's baseball which is a loooong story but kinda a funny one that I will have to blog about one day when I am feeling very bloggy & also that it's Easter. I can't decide which holiday I like best. The kids are home for 2 weeks & that's always fun. Did you feel the sarcasm on that one too?

Okay, so maybe I do have a little more to blog about than I thought. Andy & I got away recently & went to Disneyland for a few days with NO KIDS! It was so nice to not have to take care of anyone for a few days & to stay up late & eat whatever we wanted without kids yelling or screaming at us for something. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel & that place is AWESOME! Loved it! I want to live there. My mom rules for taking our kids for us oh & my dad too. We are now back to reality & listening to kids quarrel & a baby crying. Where can you get muzzles & cages for kids? Two days just doesn't cut it but all in all it was fun to be gone but it's good to be home with all 3 monsters :).

Hope you all have a Happy Easter... And I won't quit my blog but you all better give me some ideas to blog about. WAIT, before I go I have a question that Gavin brought up the other day... Why is it that the Easter Bunny delivers the eggs? Eggs come from a chicken not a bunny!!! How do these 2 things go together?

Random Pics...

The Happs At The G House

From scouting, to school projects, to learning multiplication, to baseball practice, to having lessons about being honest we have been very busy at the G house.

Gavin started baseball practice this month. For the first time ever playing baseball he will be playing AAA (that's the highest league besides the majors in case you didn't know). His first game is at the end of this month. He has practice Monday nights Wednesday nights & Saturday mornings. When his coaches found out he was a lefty they grabbed him as quick as they could & started to teach him to pitch. Hope Gavin keeps his excitement for baseball. If he sticks with it he could play for college & then for the majors. I'll have my mansion & vette before I know it! :)  He seems to be enjoying it so far so we'll see & I'll post pics. with his full uniform on. He is also learning his multiplication, division, & fractions. It blows my mind that kids these days have to know so much stuff. I don't remember having to know all this & more in 3rd grade.

Emma continues to plug along in kindergarten... She's a funny girl. For Valentines Day I wanted to get her teacher an orchid plant. Emma had another gift in mind. She wanted to give her teacher a stuffed giraffe holding a fake rose & a small box of chocolate. Her reasoning was & I quote, "Mom she can't sleep with a plant, but she can sleep with this."  Though it looked very cheap I gave in, can't argue with a 5 year old on that. We also have had a few honesty lessons with Emma lately.. Who knew that she was a klepto? She took a shiny sparkly key chain from the post office the other day & when I found out I made her return it & she cried all the way there. The lady told her because she was honest & for coming back to return it she could keep it! NOOOOOOOOOO that's the worse thing that lady could have said to her. But Emma is now a proud owner of a sparkly key chain. Then the other day she took a plastic diamond ring from the treasure box at school. She proudly showed me when I picked her up & I instantly knew something was not right. I had Emma go to Andy's classroom to wait for me as I went to talk to her teacher & sure enough Emma lied to me & she stole it from the treasure box. I made Emma return it to the teacher that day & her teacher was firm with her & explained that stealing was bad & that it makes a person distrust that person. Emma felt very bad & I think she learned her lesson.

Landon is HUGE &  so cute &  love able. He'll grab my face &  squeeze it hard & then slobber all over it. He's not crawling yet but he tries & when he gets mad, oh boy watch out cause he'll let you know! Oh & he loves to eat. He will protest very LOUD if you eat in front of him & not share.

So, those are the happs around here & the reason of not updating my blog sooner. I am a very BUSY woman.

I Believe.......

Christmas is here I can't believe it. Do you remember as a child it would take forever for Christmas to get here? Those 11 months seemed to drag! Now as an adult I am sitting here asking where does the time go & why is it so stressful but at the same time fun to play Santa? And who still believes in Santa? Does he really exist? And if so why do we believe so much?

An eight year old girl in 1897 questioned if Santa was real & she wrote the local newspaper & this was the editor's response:

Dear Editor--I am eight years old.
"Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus.
"Papa says, 'If you see it in The Sun, it's so.'
"Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus?

Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the scepticism of a sceptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no child-like faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if you did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

Ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood. I love that last part. So yes, Santa is real. It's all about faith & love & generosity that make it REAL :)

I believe! Do you??

Spooky Mookie

Definition of a Spooky Mookie- n. something in the dark that is scary & will eat young children all up!

Spooky Mookie is what my mom used to say to Gavin & Emma when they would want to run down dark unlit streets. She would say there were spooky mookies that would get them. This stuck with Gavin for years. When the lights would go out at night to go to bed he would say "OHHHH Spooky Mookies."

In just a few days spooky mookies will be roaming the streets asking for candy, but the one place for sure I know they will be is at my neighbor's house. He decorates his house every Halloween very ghoulish & spooky & every year he adds new things. Last year he decorated his whole front year & then he decorated around his side yard & then before you thought it was done you would exit from his house but not without first getting a bloody drink (red punch) from the skull itself. My neighbor is awesome. Some of the things he does is animated. I can't even talk about it & do it justice. You would have to come & see it for yourself but I did take pictures. So, when you go out this Halloween Eve don't walk down dark allies or unlit streets cause the Spooky Mookies might get you if you don't watch out!

(These pictures were taken during the making, you should see it now!) WOW!!!

Believe It........... or Not!!!!!

I can't believe this is a real cake.

I can't believe it's October 1st already!

I can't believe that Halloween is just 30 days away!

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is near & that there are only 85 more days of Christmas shopping left!

I can't believe that today is so warm.... where's fall?

I can't believe that it took me almost an hour to choose my backdrop for this blog.

I can't believe that it's taken me forever to update my blog!

I can't believe how fast time flies!

I can't believe this is Gavin's room!
I can't believe how well Emma is picking up on words & how fast she is learning!

I can't believe Gavin's love for Science!

I can't believe how fast Landon is growing. (3 months old)
I can't believe how corrupt our government is.. (actually this one I can believe; just shocking more than anything)

I can't believe it's almost been a month since I've seen Kristen & her cute little family! Where are you?

I can't believe I am blogging one handed! Landon will not stop crying!

I can't believe that the time of day is here again & I've got to start thinking about dinner!

Excuses, Excuses!

I can't think of anything that is blog worthy, but figured it's time to update the blog any how with non related dumb stupid humor:

These are top 10 student excuses for missing class.

10. My mom made me give my dog away & I haven't stopped crying for 3 days.

9. While driving to school I fell asleep at the wheel. I pulled over & napped instead of coming to school.

8. My boyfriend was stabbed at a club on Saturday. He's okay, but I'm finding it hard to concentrate on school right now.

7. A drug lord burned down my house.

6. I had to visit my brother in jail.

5. My little sister locked me in the closet.

4. My bank card was cloned by the corner store up the street. They wiped out my bank account & I didn't have money for subway fare.

3. My Ritalin stopped working. You really wouldn't have wanted me to come to class.

2. I never met my father.  On Friday, I saw an obituary in the paper for my paternal grandfather's funeral. I contacted my dad through the funeral home. Since then, my father's entire extended family has been harassing me on Facebook demanding to meet me. I haven't told my mother. I'm having a nervous breakdown.

1. I pulled my back reaching into the fridge for margarine.

Okay so these were pretty lame.. Kinda wonder if they are true & also wonder if they have ever been used...

School Time

It's that time again! Gavin & Emma started school today. I am so proud of them. They both woke up so bright & cheerful that I almost didn't recognize my own kids! I'm excited for them for they both have great teachers this year. Emma has Mrs. Karaffa for kinder & Gavin has Ms. Love for 3rd grade.

As we pulled up to the school Gavin jumped out, (was embarrassed I took his picture & then took off to find his friends) Emma on the other hand was a bit apprehensive at first & I walked her to her class & waited with her outside with all the other dozen mommies & kids. She met 1 little girl named Gwen with fiery red hair. They are both princesses & will get along just fine! Emma said to me this morning, "Mom, I'm going to a real school, & I get to see dad every day!"
After I turned Emma loose (well actually after she found the playground) it was all over for me. Emma was happy & adjusting fine & without further to do she told me she would see me later on & not to forget to pick her up later! Thought I would have been a bit more emotional letting her go but actually I was proud & I just can't believe how grown up she is getting!

After leaving Emma, I went to find Gavin. He was acting all cool in line with his friends. He gave me the look like mom, what are you doing here?  I gave him a high five & told him to behave & to have fun & then Landon & I were on our way.

So, you might ask what will I do with my free time from now till 11:45? Well I will post this then I will listen to the silence. I will not miss the fighting between Emma & Gavin. I will not miss the door opening & closing 50 thousand times! I will love having my tile floors downstairs clean for most of the day! I will not miss trying to find activities for the kids to do to  keep them entertained. I will ENJOY my free time with Landon!

It's going to be a wonderful school year!!!
